Kentucky has taken a major step toward implementing medical marijuana by awarding licenses to 26 businesses for cultivation and processing.

Selected through a lottery, these businesses will ensure medical cannabis is produced entirely within the state, with dispensaries expected to follow suit.
Medical marijuana is anticipated to be available starting January 1, 2025, for patients with qualifying conditions such as cancer, chronic pain, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, PTSD, and certain nausea disorders.
Governor Andy Beshear emphasized that safe and accessible options are on the way for Kentuckians.
