Happy Munkey, a trailblazing cannabis retailer, has launched its second legal adult-use dispensary, this time on Fulton Mall in Downtown Brooklyn. Co-founded by Vladimir Bautista, Ramon Reyes, Omar Ibonnet, and John Ibonnet, the dispensary builds on over a century of combined experience in the cannabis industry. This opening follows the success of its inaugural shop on Dyckman Street in Inwood, which debuted in September.

Empowering Communities and Redefining Cannabis Culture
Happy Munkey’s mission goes beyond retail. It’s a lifestyle brand focused on educating the community, promoting social equity, and addressing the harms caused by the War on Drugs. Co-founder Vladimir Bautista, a former marijuana seller whose record was expunged after New York legalized cannabis, hopes the business inspires others to turn adversity into opportunity.
“We’ve broken barriers so others don’t have to,” said Bautista. “We’re turning our pain into power, employing our community, and paying taxes.”
The brand integrates retail with media platforms like Happy Munkey Podcast, Happy Munkey TV, and Munkey Magazine, aiming to reshape the public perception of cannabis users. Additionally, the store offers workshops and events in its dedicated event space to further educate and engage the community.
Features of the Brooklyn Dispensary
Educational Innovations
One of the store’s standout features is its “Explore” screen, a bilingual educational tool that provides insights into:
Cannabinoids: Highlighting eight types, including THC, CBD, and CBG, and their therapeutic benefits for pain, insomnia, anxiety, and more.
Terpenes: Aromatic compounds with medicinal benefits, such as antibacterial and antifungal properties.
This resource empowers customers to make informed decisions about cannabis products tailored to their needs.
Product Offerings
The dispensary offers a curated selection of premium cannabis products, all sourced from New York growers, including:
Flower
Pre-rolls
Edibles
Concentrates
Topicals
CBD products
Community Impact
Happy Munkey supports the local economy and social initiatives through its operations:
Cannabis sales are lab-tested, quality-controlled, and taxed, with 9% of the tax revenue funding public education, drug treatment, and community reinvestment.
An additional 4% of tax revenue is directed back to communities hosting dispensaries.
A Modern Space in a Revitalized Fulton Mall
Located at 453 Fulton Street, Happy Munkey’s Brooklyn dispensary aligns with the ongoing $8 million revitalization of Fulton Mall. The initiative focuses on creating a greener, more pedestrian-friendly retail corridor.
“We’re excited to be part of Fulton Mall, surrounded by amazing businesses and organizations,” Bautista said.
Regina Myer, president of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, praised the addition, noting the vibrancy and foot traffic the dispensary will bring to the neighborhood.
