On Sunday, Nov. 24, an Uber Eats driver reported a suspicious smell coming from a delivery bag, leading officers to discover over an ounce of raw marijuana wrapped in tinfoil instead of a burrito.
The driver picked up the order in Lindenwold, New Jersey, intending to deliver it to Glassboro.
However, after noticing the strong cannabis odor, the driver contacted authorities.
Along with the marijuana, the delivery bag also contained a box of soup and a bottle of water.
The Washington Township Police Department posted about the incident on Facebook, humorously noting they were "cooking up an investigation." The marijuana has been placed in evidence, and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Washington Township Detective Bureau at 856-589-0330.
This unusual discovery highlights concerns about illicit activities using delivery services and the vigilance of drivers in reporting suspicious behavior.
