The Massachusetts attorney general's office on Wednesday announced that it had certified two proposals to legalize the personal use and possession of nature-derived psychedelics in the Bay State via a ballot initiative in the November 2024 general election.
The two proposals, backed by a group called Massachusetts for Mental Health Options, were among a total of 34 approved Wednesday that can now proceed with the signature-gathering process necessary to put the initiatives before voters.
"We appreciate the attorney general's decision to certify both of our petitions. We believe that Massachusetts voters should have the opportunity to expand mental health access to natural psychedelics," Danielle L. McCourt, a spokesperson for the campaign, told Law360 on Wednesday.
