The series will be based on Bierman's forthcoming tell-all book, *Weed Empire: How I Battled Gangsters, Investment Banks, and the Department of Justice to Build the Cannabis Industry in America*, set for release in April 2025.

The series will chronicle the rise and fall of MedMen, once the most recognized cannabis brand in America, and Bierman's role in the development of the multibillion-dollar industry. Robert Friedman, CEO of Bungalow Media + Entertainment, described the project as an "amazing origin story" about one man's struggle against the establishment in the wild, unregulated world of early cannabis commerce. The show will explore themes of ambition, activism, greed, and politics, revealing the obstacles Bierman and his partners faced in creating a new, mainstream market for marijuana.

Bierman, co-founder and former CEO of MedMen, expressed enthusiasm about sharing his experiences, stating, “Living at the intersection of criminality, politics, finance, and pop culture; I dealt with gangsters, shakedowns, loan sharks, and government corruption at the highest level.” He added that Bungalow's dedication to telling his story has been motivating.

Bungalow Media + Entertainment, founded by Robert Friedman in 2013, is known for producing content across various platforms. Some of their recent projects include *13 Days in Ferguson* (CBS/Paramount+), *Little Richard: I Am Everything* (CNN Films/Max), and *Serving the Hamptons* (Max), among others.
