HARMONY, Maine —

Authorities seized hundreds of marijuana plants at an illegal grow operation in the Somerset County town of Harmony on Friday morning.

Members of the Somerset County Sheriff's Office and the Waterville police worked with the Dept. of Homeland Security, the Federal Drug Enforcement Admin. U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Office of Cannabis Policy to execute a search warrant at a home on South Road. No one was home at the time of the search.

It was the culmination of a monthslong investigation. In all, authorities seized 1,277 plants and 25 pounds of processed marijuana. The Somerset County District Attorney's Office will file criminal charges against the owner after reviewing the case.

The Somerset County Sheriff's Office has already executed 15 search warrants at illegal grow facilities since late January 2024. The search warrants have been carried out in the Ripley, Harmony, Skowhegan, Madison, Norridgewock, Mercer, and Solon. They've seized 18,000 marijuana plants and 400 pounds of processed cannabis, leading to the arrest of eight people who are now charged with felony drug trafficking and marijuana cultivation
