Psychosis more likely for these pot smokers

A recent study published in Molecular Psychiatry explores the relationship between cannabis use and DNA methylation, focusing on the effects of high-potency cannabis (over 10% THC) on human genetics.

The research analyzed DNA samples from individuals experiencing psychosis and those with stable mental health, finding that regular use of potent cannabis may decrease mitochondrial function and affect energy and immune system genes.


While results suggest a genetic predisposition for cannabis-induced psychosis in some individuals, limitations, such as reliance on self-reported data, highlight the need for further research
