Residents in Northern Kentucky have been receiving promotional fliers from Queen City Cannabis, a dispensary in Ohio, offering discounts at its locations in Harrison and Norwood. However, crossing state lines with marijuana from Ohio into Kentucky could lead to legal issues. Kentucky still prohibits both medical and recreational marijuana, as highlighted by Campbell County attorney Steve Franzen, who emphasized that possession of marijuana, regardless of its legality in Ohio, remains illegal in Kentucky.
Northern Kentucky resident Teresa Werner was confused upon receiving the flier, unsure about Kentucky’s marijuana laws. Similarly, another local, Tim Jordan, indicated he would simply discard such fliers due to Kentucky’s strict regulations.
Despite Ohio's legalization of recreational marijuana following the passage of Issue Two last November, Kentucky’s laws remain unchanged. Commonwealth Attorney Rob Sanders reiterated that anyone who purchases marijuana in Ohio should not bring it into Kentucky or drive under its influence. Both Franzen and Sanders strongly caution against driving while impaired by marijuana, regardless of its legal status in Ohio.
