RFK Jr.’s Wellness Guru Says He Found His Calling to ‘Make America Healthy Again’ on a Shroom Trip

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s wellness-focused agenda, "Make America Healthy Again," has drawn inspiration from wellness influencers like Calley and Dr. Casey Means, siblings who have gained visibility in alternative health circles.

Calley Means, who previously worked as a lobbyist for the food industry, had a personal awakening toward health reform after a psilocybin experience. Alongside his sister, a surgeon, he's advocated for a holistic approach to health, which they detail in their book *Good Energy*. Their ideas have resonated with figures on the right and even circulated within Trump's circles, though the Means siblings hold a somewhat unconventional mix of anti-corporate and conservative views.

Kennedy’s alignment with their views adds another layer to his well-publicized stance against certain public health norms, including his notable anti-vaccine comments. However, he also endorses ideas like healthier diets and government-funded wellness initiatives that appeal to some progressive circles. One of his more novel proposals includes “wellness farms” to promote nutrition and wellness education—a concept that’s piqued interest across ideological lines.

Yet, Kennedy’s mission may face hurdles, especially if he joins a hypothetical Trump administration. Trump’s past support of corporate food giants and less restrictive dietary guidelines could pose a challenge to Kennedy’s anti-corporate stance on food and health. As Trump himself is no stranger to fast food and has a history of appointing insiders with corporate leanings, it’s uncertain if Kennedy’s more health-centric, reformist ideas would gain traction in such an administration. For now, Kennedy’s wellness platform serves as a curious intersection of populist health reform and alt-wellness advocacy in U.S. politics.
