Votes for Arkansas ballot measure on medical marijuana will not be counted, court rules

The Arkansas Supreme Court ruled against allowing voters to consider a ballot measure aimed at expanding the state's medical marijuana program, citing that the initiative did not fully inform voters of its implications.

The decision, made just before the election, means votes on the measure will not be counted.


The proposed amendment sought to expand who could certify patients for medical cannabis and allow possession of marijuana if legalized federally, but the court found the language misleading, especially regarding legislative authority.
